I had a couple of thoughts; would the idea of having the tournament "league based" as opposed to being knockout based, be a little too difficult to integrate with all the other ideas you have planned? For example, the scoring would be more like a Football league table. Heres the basic proposal:
1. The tournament doesnt start until a certain amount of teams has signed up (say
2. Each team can have up to 10 players. However each match only 6 can play at one time, but if there are surplus players they can be subbed on and off during the match.
3. The matches take place at a certain time and day each week, in the "best" servers (i.e. the ones that are used for the ladle, if possible)
4. Once the match starts, it will be best of 3.
5. The scoring would work as follows; 3 points for a win, 1 point for the losing team if over half the winners points is gained (as you cannot get draws in fortress), and 0 points if you lose having under half the winners points.
6. The league table would be drawn up using the win/loss points, but as is the case during Football if teams have the same points Goal difference is taken into account. Therefore the score logs are also saved, with the case of 2 teams having the same league points, the winner would be the one with the most actual match points.
7. The tournament would end, like the football league, when everyone has played everyone (if 8 teams enter, it would be 7 weeks). This way, this could be run say, 4 times a year (giving people a month break between the tournaments, perhaps for new signups, etc)
Now, after my rant, does this seem to be feasible with this tournament or would it work best as a new one/develop the ladle ?
Questions/comments welcome
